Home charging · Level 2

Full battery by morning

A wall outlet gives you about four miles an hour, which is why your car is never ready. A dedicated Level 2 circuit fills the same battery overnight, off peak, on your own driveway.

The three-question fit quiz

Charger quotes swing by thousands of dollars for reasons nobody explains. These three answers cover almost all of it, so you can see the range before anyone knocks on your door.

What are you charging?
How old is your panel?
Where does the charger go?

What the install includes

Asked on nearly every quote

Do I need a panel upgrade?

Usually not. We run a load calculation on your actual service, and where the numbers are tight we fit a load management device that pauses the charger while the dryer or the range is running. That is a few hundred dollars against a few thousand.

Hardwired or a 14-50 outlet?

Hardwired runs at a higher amperage and takes a beating better outdoors. An outlet lets you unplug and take the charger with you when you move. Same circuit either way, so pick on how long you plan to stay.

How long does it take?

Most garage installs are a half day, with the inspection a few days later. Detached garages and driveway pedestals run a full day because of the trench.

What does it cost to run?

On a San Antonio time-of-use plan, charging after 9pm works out near a third of what the same miles cost in gas. Your charger app can be set to hold off until the cheap window starts.

Prefer to just talk it through?

Send a photo of your panel and where the car parks. We quote most chargers from those two pictures.
